18/12 (I)

AHOY, MATEYZ! I'm back, as promised:) I've done my workout, burned those calories, and ever-ready to pop in more!

Well it's time to start proper now ...i'll start with my activities yesterday.

Dear Nattie introduced me to and A-W-E-SOME ice cream parlour ytd. It's located in a new mall at Bugis, Illuma. Marble Slab Creamery is the name of this haven. "Orgasmic", "Best ice creams i've ever tried", these were his descriptions. He always compares Singaporean food standards to that of America's, and it so happens that this is the first place which sells ice creams that are supposedly up to standard, according to him. I sat on the fence before i came to the place. As soon eyes my eyes met the parlour, my jaw-dropped. I began salivating as soon as i saw the various types of ice creams displayed. Wasting no time at all, we started sampling(my favourite hobby). I was at a loss for choice for which flavour to take. Almost everything stuck me like glue, on the glass protecting the ice creams. There was your old-fashioned strawberry and vanilla, but who goes to SUCH a place and takes those flavours, seriously? Then they were all sorts of unique flavours such as Chocolate Ameretti, Rocher, Double dark chocolate, Peanut Butter, Bubblegum, Birthday Cake, Black Walnut, Butter Pecan, Spiced Apple, and a couple more but these are all i can remember for now. Are your mouths watering already ??? Wait till you see the pictures... Anyway, since the both of us couldn't come to a decision(mainly I), we decided to go for the Earthquake thingy(above). That gives you 5 scoops of ice creams, one liquid topping and one mix-in, all for $16.80(trust me, it's worth every cent). Oh yeah, i forgot to mention the mix-ins! Mix-ins are ingredients you might want to add on which would be mixed into your scoop(s), for a additional charge of 90c/$1, I can't really recall. Anyways, there are many different kind of mix-ins too. Crushed peanut butter cups, Reese's puffs, Snicker bars, kit kat, m&ms, chocolate rice, chopped health bars, some cracker, walnuts, pecans, almonds, oreo cookies, marshmallows, and a lot more(P.S. Nat pls comment if you rmb anymore, thx!). The liquid toppings they have are hot fudge, hot caramel, and I can't rmb if there are anymore. The liquid toppings weren't actually hot h/w.. that was the ONLY disappointing thing, but pretty much negligable:). We took the Rocher, Black walnut, Birthday Cake, Spiced apple and Peanut Butter flavours, with the crushed peanut butter cups and 'hot' caramel topping. For our 5-in-1 choice h/w, the mix-ins are not actually mixed in, but just sprinkled on top ..so we just mixed 'em in as we indulged. Within minutes, we paid the money and rushed over to a comfortable seating, to devour our self-created lunch(Yup, ice cream for lunch. Awesome much yeah?). Upon taking the first spoon, my eyes glistened wide open, and looked opposite at Nat. He looked back at me, smiling triumphantly; another WAY-over-satisfactory recommendation. We both dug in like hungry little kids, our faces smeared all over with the sweet mess, leaving no trace in the big bowl. The waiter/waitress would probably have thought it was a clean bowl accidentaly put out! It was certaintly an orgasmic experience for my tastebuds, and I can't wait to return!!! We'll probably try the off-menu sets they have, on our next visit; the Cookie Dough and Apple Crumble thingys.

As we sat back with our bulging tummies protruding out, reflecting on the taste of sweet taste of heaven we just encountered, our eyes went to a family of 3 who just arrived at a table just in front of ours; a little boy, his mom and his maid. Set on their table were 2 cups of 1 scoop each, strawberry and vanilla. Strawberry had rainbow sprinkles, vanilla was plain. Nat and i looked at each other with mouths agaped, and this time it wasn't a good sign. We gritted our teeth simultaneously. The same thoughts ran thru' our minds. It was similar to what i mentioned at the earlier part of this post. 'How on earth could someone have the sense to come to such a top-notch ice cream parlour and order run-of-the-mill flavours such as those ?!?! $4.20 for a kiddy-sized cup which they ordered, meaning $8.40 for both, plus an additional charge for the rainbow sprinkles. If they really wanted strawberry and vanilla, why not just go to any other ordinary shop or those ice cream wagons on the streets ?? Only about $1 for one scoop, how much money they could have saved! Sheesh... Oh well. I really don't know what much to say about them. tsk ...(scene of family eating- above)

Soon, we got up and left the family to enjoy their delight. My following post will discuss what we did next. Coming right up, dudes & dudettes!
